Julie's Jive

As Neil Diamond might say, Hot August Nights have turned into September Morn!  Our summer picnic on August 2nd was a smash with about 40 people attending.  The bike ride and golfing in the morning before the picnic began were well attended.   September will bring our Alaskan cruise and a Wednesday night at the Broadway Farmers Market in Green Bay.  Please look for information regarding the Farmers Market on the Website calendar for September 24th.

September 8th is also the start for the sign-up of Lake Tahoe!  You’ll find the prices of our Mid-west trips have been set.  We’ll have a Day trip to Marquette in December.  A 4-day trip to Lutsen starting Thursday, January 1st with skiing at Spirit Mountain on Sunday when we return, should be a great ski trip.   As always, we have our yearly trip to Boyne that can’t be beat.

I’d like to give you a couple of updates from our committees:

Julie's Jive

As the summer is HEATING UP, the Board is COOLING DOWN with thoughts of skiing!  We are working on getting a Marquette Day Trip together in December.   A Four-Day trip to Lutsen, MN is in the works with us leaving on New Year’s Day.  We are in contact with Spirit Mountain with hopes we can ski there as a side trip during the last day of the Lutsen long weekend.  We are working on going to Boyne the weekend of March 6-8.   The pricing for Lake Tahoe has been determined and will be roughly $1,400.00 to $1,540.00, depending on how many days you would like to ski. (see the flyer for more info)

I can’t believe that the summer is half over –although that makes it that much closer to skiing !  With summer vacations by some of the board members in June,  we will discuss the Mid-west trips at our July 15th meeting.   The Alaskan Cruise has about 30 people going in September.  Dick Wortiska, our Trip Chair, is getting the details in order for a great week to Lake Tahoe in February.

Our “Out West” Trip will be to Lake Tahoe from February 21-28, 2015!

We are still working on our mid-west trips—so stay tuned! There was a lot of information to be had from the trip to the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council (CMSC) this year.  Those who went came back with many great ideas.  We will try to implement some of them this year.  For instance, the new board has set some objectives for the year and we need your help to complete them.

We would like to establish committees for:

With about 60 people in attendance, the Spring Banquet was great !  The head waitress from The Woods, Betty, gave us the signal to be seated by ringing a dinner bell at 7.   The food that was served was delicious:  fish, tips and chicken.  Although The Woods served dessert, Ve-ronica Williquette brought her homemade desserts, such as carrot cake, that couldn’t be beat ! When the plates were cleared, the annual meeting began.

We opened the meeting by singing Happy Birthday to the birthday boy, Jason Derenne.  The agenda started with a couple of announcements:  We are creating a 45th anniversary party committee—please contact Brian Fowle if you are interested. Searchmont gave us a couple of lift tickets for next season—please contact Adam Hanson if you are interested in these.  We then moved to the elections for the year.  The Vice President and Treasurer positions were up for election this year.
