Gelandesprung Newsletters & President's Message

Tis the season to be Jollylaugh and skiing !  Come and join us for beverages and hors d’oeuvres at our Holiday Party on December 27th.  This is also the Marquette Day Trip’s pre-trip meeting.  We are still in need of an assistant trip leader for this trip, as well as for the Lutsen/Spirit Mountain trip.  If you are interested, please let any of the Board members know (there is a 25% discount on the trip when you are an assistant trip leader).

Our Fall Banquet is in September this year. One month sooner to kick off our ski season!!  We have set up 2 locations for parking during all trips this year. One will be at The Bar in Appleton. The other is at East Town Mall in Green Bay, across from Fazoli's.

We are in need of trip leaders for all mid-west trips. If you are interested, take a look at the website,, under Member Resources. There is a comprehensive Trip Leader Guide that gives a great overview of what is involved. Please contact myself at, or any other Board member if you are interested. (As the trip leader, you will receive 50% off the price of the trip. An assistant trip leader receives 25% off the price.)

Our Mid-West trip list is included in this issue--Yeah!  We’ve changed things up a little for the 2016-17 ski season.  You’ll see plans for skiing at Marquette as a day trip on December 31st and a day trip to Granite Peak for those not going to Europe.  Our weekend trips will be to Mont Ripley paired with the Porcupine Mountains and for St. Patrick’s Day, Lutsen paired with Spirit Mountain.  A couple of new locations to add excitement to our winter yes

With the summer in full swing and firecrackers exploding, our summer events are bursting into fun activities.   The Raft Trip, Happy Hour, Washington Island Bike Ride and Sly Fox Timber Rattlers Game in June were all well attended.  July will bring the 4th Annual Bike Ride and BBQ, another Happy Hour, a Sly Fox Golf Outing and the RSVP for our Summer Picnic scheduled for August 6th.  The Summer Picnic will include a bike ride and golf scramble.  See more information within this Newsletter.

The Board is working on our Mid-west trips for the next ski season with our Vice President, Rita Delveaux, leading the charge.  Watch for the list of trips in the August Newsletter.  The Out-West trip to Steamboat is coming together as well.  Dick is investigating plans for great dining as well as skiing.  Gary Austin has agreed to be the Assistant Trip Leader.  Together, Dick and Gary will be a great team.

For the first time in the history of our club, we won all awards at CMSC this year !!!  Our Website was considered the best.  The Newsletters we submitted:  June 2015, August 2015 & March 2016 were considered the best.  Congratulations to Sheri Gardapee and Jenny Lunde for their ingenuity and vision on the Website.  Congratulations to Penny Holman for her cleverness and originality on the Newsletters.

We will be going to Steamboat, Colorado for our Out-West Trip.  Dick is still working out the details, which should be finalized soon.  The Board is working on the mid-west trips and are hoping to shake things up a little this year.  Stay tuned for more information in the next couple of months !!  We’re hoping to put together a season ‘you can’t refuse’.
